WSP USA is Hiring a Marketing Manager Near 16200 PARK ROW, TX

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a full time Marketing Manager to join our Texas Southwest marketing group. The position can be located within any of our offices in the Texas, including Houston, Dallas or Austin. 

The Marketing Manager is a key position working closely with business leadership to develop, execute and monitor the overall marketing strategy and help achieve marketing and sales performance goals throughout the District. 

This is an opportunity to be a part of delivering critical infrastructure that supports the safe and sustainable growth of the communities in which we live, work and play. The Marketing Manager will work with a variety of staff (from planners and engineers to designers and construction managers) across the vertical and horizontal infrastructure markets (Transportation, Water, Energy, and Property and Buildings). 
 
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills and possess proven ability to lead a marketing program for a large engineering office. We are looking for an energetic, motivated and self-starter candidate with strong local industry knowledge to support growth across all of WSP’s business lines. 

The position is responsible for leading or overseeing all pursuit and proposal efforts in close working relationship with client engagement and pursuit teams. The marketing manager will lead development of strategic marketing plans for specific clients and pursuits, including creation of tactical action plans, teaming discussions with potential partners and subconsultants, issue identification/resolution, written strategy development, and presentation coaching.

We are looking for a motivated people-person with excellent writing and communication skills to lead the proposal process and support our fast-paced workflow. The position requires strong marketing and business development leadership skills for a large, multidisciplinary engineering operation. While our ideal candidate will bring experience in the AEC or professional services industries, what we’re looking for is someone with a collaborative, can-do attitude that has a special knack for creativity and persuasive storytelling. Your Impact

  • Responsible for coordinating and overseeing workload of direct reports, often with multiple, overlapping deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and monitor proposal team progress and quality of individual pursuits and proposals, give feedback and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Manages day-to-day supervision of staff, which includes performance reviews and training/mentoring of staff. 
  • Works closely with business unit leaders to drive WSP’s marketing and sales process around must-win projects.
  • Reviews portfolio of pursuits and works with others to determine pursuit leadership, either delegating or personally taking the lead on pursuit development.
  • Supports client engagement teams with developing client-focused strategies and action plans to improve WSP’s visibility and reputation, understand WSP’s position with the client, and to solicit feedback on existing work.
  • Leads and supports pursuit teams in developing pursuit strategies and managing pursuits through the pre-RFP, proposal and interview phases. Develops key sales messages, themes and differentiators. Oversees others leading pursuit teams and monitors progress and improvement of readiness score.
  • Works with very limited oversight, possesses a high level of skill with interpersonal relationships and employs persuasive communications skills.
  • Coaches and leads presentation teams including facilitating interview strategy meetings, providing constructive feedback to presenters on style and content, and preparing teams for Q&A and other presentation requirements.
  • Collaborates with District leadership on WSP’s visibility and participation in local industry events, professional organization meetings, conferences and other civic engagement activities.
  • Oversees compliance with marketing policies and procedures (proposal quality and compliance, etc.)
  • Maintains accurate information in the marketing system regarding the area’s marketing performance
  • Supports annual strategic planning initiatives
  • Supervise work of marketing coordinators (I, II and III) 
  • Follows WSP’s high standards for ethical behavior and quality in all marketing activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, journalism or related field or equivalent experience
  • 7 years minimum experience in the AEC industry preferred, background in journalism, publishing or communications ideal
  • Experience supervising staff including performance reviews, mentorship and training 

Technical Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possesses a strategic mindset and sound judgment 
  • Ability to build trust and influence others 
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and other communications-related software programs 
  • Excellent organizational and editorial skills along with liaison capabilities and knowledge of business development procedures 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, diverse teams towards a positive outcome
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously
  • Demonstrated experience managing standard and complex proposals from onset to conclusion with general guidance 
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in completing tasks
  • Knowledge of AEC industry, terms and definitions highly desired
  • Ability to train others on company policy and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the district and region, as needed
